John has been a consultant in the NHS since 2014, working mainly at Royal Alexandra Hospital and more recently in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He graduated from Glasgow University in 1999 before completing basic surgical training in South Wales. His higher surgical training was in the East of Scotland rotation and he developed further sub-specialist skills with a year long fellowship in Sydney, Australia. His sub specialisation involves the treatment of stone disease which lends to him being very proficient in minimally invasive endoscopic procedures.
