You should wear appropriate loose clothing that can be easily moved out of the way for your scan. Depending upon the region being scanned you may be asked to remove some items of clothing or wear a medical gown so the region can be appropriately assessed. Please review the preparation advice below for each examination:

Ultrasound Abdomen/Liver – You must be in a fasted state for your ultrasound scan. You should not eat for at least six hours prior to your scan. You may drink clear fluids, but they must not contain any fats such as milk or be fizzy. You should continue to take necessary medication with clear fluids.

The practitioner performing your scan will interpret the images and may be able to tell you the results immediately following the scan, however please note sometimes this is not possible to do if further assessment or discussion with another clinician is required.

You will receive an electronic written copy of your report following your scan detailing the ultrasound scan findings.

Dr Kamalasanan has a subspecialist interest in ear, nose and throat (ENT) and general Paediatric imaging which includes Ultrasound assessment for various paediatric and ENT conditions, targeted sonographic assessment of neck and thyroid with ultrasound guided intervention.
